Superpropagators for explicitly broken 3D-supersymmetric theories

A systematic algorithm to derive superpropagators in the case of either explicitly or spontaneously broken supersymmetric three-dimensional theories is presented. We discuss how the explicit breaking terms that are introduced at tree-level induce 1-loop radiative corrections to the effective action. We also point out that the renormalisation effects and the breaking-inducing-breaking mechanism become more immediate whenever we adopt the shifted superpropagators discussed in this letter.Comment: 6 pages, LaTex, references added. Faunistic inventories regarding natural history of amphibians and reptiles are considered scarce and very little is known about their assemblages in urban areas; the Pampas morphoclimatic domain, also known as Uruguayan Savannah or Southern Grasslands, is also poorly known regarding their faunal composition. Herein, we present a checklist of 16 amphibian and 20 reptile species recorded over a course of four years in the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciências e Tecnologia, Câmpus Pelotas-Visconde da Graça, in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. We also present data on natural history and discuss conservation efforts to be undertaken in the area, in one of the least preserved and known Brazilian morphoclimatic domains, providing insights into urban herpetofaunal diversity patterns and showing the importance of modified areas in its conservation. © 2016 Check List and Authors.12

The Causal Interpretation of Dust and Radiation Fluids Non-Singular Quantum Cosmologies

We apply the causal interpretation of quantum mechanics to homogeneous and isotropic quantum cosmology where the sources of the gravitational field are either dust or radiation perfect fluids. We find non-singular quantum trajectories which tends to the classical one when the scale factor becomes much larger then the Planck length. In this situation, the quantum potential becomes negligible. There are no horizons. As radiation is a good approximation for the matter content of the early universe, this result suggests that the universe can be eternal due to quantum effects.Comment: 10 pages, LaTeX, 5 figures in postscript, requires eps

Soil Chemical Attributes Of A Dystroferric Red Latosol (oxisol) Treated With An Alkaline Effluent From A Pharmaceutical Industry

Effluents from different industrial supply conglomerates are often discarded in the environment without proper treatment. The concern for an economically viable industrial production line, which is both environmentally sound and socially acceptable, is increasing. Some of these effluents are alkaline in nature and may be used as an alternative to chemical conditioners for acidic soils in agricultural systems. This research aimed to evaluate changes in the chemical attributes of a Dystroferric Red Latosol (Oxisol) after application of an effluent from a pharmaceutical industry. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse using PVC tubes of 1-m length and a 0.2-m diameter filled with soil and different doses of the effluent. After 3 days, 100 mm of water was applied to each treatment. The PVC tubes were incubated for 30 days; thereafter, the tubes disassembled, and soil chemical analysis were made at different soil depths: 0-0.2, 0.2-0.4, 0.4-0.6, 0.6-0.8, and 0.8-1.0 m. The effluent applications significantly altered the soil elements in the 0-0.2 m layer, increasing the concentrations of K+, P, Mn2+, Na+, Cu2+, H+, Ca2+, Al3+ and the soil pH. In the subsurface layers, the concentration of the elements Zn2+, Cu2+, K+, and Na+ also changed significantly. In general, the application of pharmaceutical industry residue improved soil chemical attributes.3753037304

The objective of this study was to evaluate the stress distribution in the resin in contact with the spirals of cylindrical and conical mini-implants, when submitted to lateral load and insertion torsion. A photoelastic model was fabricated using transparent gelatin to simulate the alveolar bone. The model was observed with a plane polariscope and photographically recorded before and after activation of the two screws with a lateral force and torsion. The lateral force application caused bending moments on both mini-implants, with the uprising of fringes or isochromatics, characteristics of stresses, along the threads of the mini-implants and in the apex. When the torsion was exerted in the mini-implants, a great concentration of stress upraised close to the apex. The conclusion was that, comparing conical with cylindrical mini-implants under lateral load, the stresses were similar on the traction sides. The differences appear (1) on the apex, where the cylindrical mini-implant showed a greater concentration of stress, and (2) along the spirals, in the compression side, where the conical mini-implant showed a greater concentration of stress. The greater part of the stress produced by both mini-implants, after torsion load in insertion, were concentrated on the apex. With the cylindrical mini-implant, the greater concentration of tension was close to the apex, while with the conical one, the stresses were distributed along a greater amount of apical threads

Role of Disorder on the Quantum Critical Point of a Model for Heavy Fermions

A zero temperature real space renormalization group (RG) approach is used to investigate the role of disorder near the quantum critical point (QCP) of a Kondo necklace (XY-KN) model. In the pure case this approach yields Jc=0J_{c}=0 implying that any coupling J0J \not = 0 between the local moments and the conduction electrons leads to a non-magnetic phase. We also consider an anisotropic version of the model (XKNX-KN), for which there is a quantum phase transition at a finite value of the ratio between the coupling and the bandwidth, (J/W)(J/W). Disorder is introduced either in the on-site interactions or in the hopping terms. We find that in both cases randomness is irrelevant in the XKNX-KN model, i.e., the disorder induced magnetic-non-magnetic quantum phase transition is controlled by the same exponents of the pure case. Finally, we show the fixed point distributions PJ(J/W)P_{J}(J/W) at the atractors of the disordered, non-magnetic phases.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure

Bosonization and Duality in Arbitrary Dimensions: New Results

    Get PDF
A generic massive Thirring Model in three space-time dimensions exhibits a correspondence with a topologically massive bosonized gauge action associated to a self-duality constraint, and we write down a general expression for this relationship. We also generalize this structure to dd dimensions, by adopting the so-called doublet approach, recently introduced. In particular, a non- conventional formulation of the bosonization technique in higher dimensions (in the spirit of d=3d=3), is proposed and, as an application, we show how fermionic (Thirring-like) representations for bosonic topologically massive models in four dimensions may be built up.Comment: Revised version, to appear in Phys. Characterizing top gated bilayer graphene interaction with its environment by Raman spectroscopy

In this work we study the behavior of the optical phonon modes in bilayer graphene devices by applying top gate voltage, using Raman scattering. We observe the splitting of the Raman G band as we tune the Fermi level of the sample, which is explained in terms of mixing of the Raman (Eg) and infrared (Eu) phonon modes, due to different doping in the two layers. We theoretically analyze our data in terms of the bilayer graphene phonon self-energy which includes non-homogeneous charge carrier doping between the graphene layers. We show that the comparison between the experiment and theoretical model not only gives information about the total charge concentration in the bilayer graphene device, but also allows to separately quantify the amount of unintentional charge coming from the top and the bottom of the system, and therefore to characterize the interaction of bilayer graphene with its surrounding environment
